H. of P., Kingston, Ont
Reverend Mother:

I received your kind favor of the 15th inst., also its enclosure cheque fro $34.50 in payment of bills enclosed, which I now return to you acquitted, and I thank you sincerely for same.

The angels I have sent you, have the same, the decoration, as if you had paid me thirty-five dollars. Had I known you would have desire more gold on them, for 5.00 more than what you paid, I would have made the decorations with flowers on the mantle. I generally charge 40.00 for angels decorated in that latter style. And in allowing you the 5.00 they would have come to 35.00. The difference in the styles of decoration depends of the quantity of gold, the more gold higher the price; but for the finish it is the same in every style – a pair of 30.00 is as well finished as for 50.00. As I said the differences is only in the ornamentation. Thirty dollars is a very close price for angels of that size & I assure you there is very little left for me.

However next time I shall try to give you better satisfaction & I shall then be in a better position to compensate you of this little misunderstanding.

I remain Reverend Mother, Your very respectful servant,
Mr. T. Carli, prop.
