On July 14th, 1946, Sister Mary Cecilia (Florence Joyce) died at the House of Providence, Kingston.
She suffered greatly and had been for many years a patient at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville, before coming to Kingston.
When St. Mary’s of the Lake served as the Novitiate of the Community, Sister entered there as a postulant, on September 4, 1911. Having completed the usual term as a Novice, she made profession in 1913. Her first appointment was to St. Francis General Hospital, Smiths Falls. She trained there as a nurse and for most of her remaining years she devoted her time to hospital work. As a faithful and conscientious nurse Sister did much good in her work among the sick.
Sister M. Cecilia was the last of her family, her only sister, Sister M. Helena and her parents having predeceased her some years before.
