BY SISTER ANNE HUDEC

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Marie McCartney and Sheila LaRush — our own Providence Associates — who began volunteering in the Tuck Shop on January 24th. We are happy and Marie and Sheila are excited. You will likely see some changes! Please support them as you have supported us and the needy.

Changes bring more changes. Sister Mary Labouré will be free now to continue her other varied interests. Sister was the first to volunteer when the shop opened in October 2004, set up very efficiently by Sr. Diane Brennen.

As many of you know, Sr. Mary Labouré not only helped in the shop but also made some of the best-selling items. Remember the fall bazaars with crocheted baby clothes, beautifully dressed dolls, delicious home-made candy and more! Elisa Pavao and later, Sue Bartlett and her Mom, helped Sister by bringing more goodies to sell and helped in the selling. Just as importantly, many of you came and almost ‘bought out the store’. Your generosity was greatly appreciated by many.

I have enjoyed working with Sister Mary Labouré. Sister was a very pleasant and easy to work with partner. I thank God for our years of friendship. May she be blessed for her cheerful labours for others.

Very special thanks to Sisters Stella Szybisty and Mary Benilda who were our faithful and much-needed helpers.

Editor’s Note: Sr. Anne Hudec released the Tuck Shop 2011 financial report. $3,025.00 proceeds between January 2011 and December 2011. All the money was sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston. Sr. Anne extends sincere thanks to all. “Know that you have helped to give to some, the necessities of life. May God bless you and yours in 2012.”
