Holyoke, Mass
My Very dear Sisters,

As I am a Debtor to many and not being able to pay my indebtedness I resolved to give my cheque for the amount which I shall redeem at the holy Altar on Easter Morning when I kneel to receive the Risen Saviour. Then dear Sisters, you will be present to my mind one and all, and if the Spouse of our Souls gives each one what I ask for her, then indeed will she be blest. Now Sisters I have a proposition to make which I hope will meet with your approval.

You all know that we intend adding a Wing to the Mother House and to do this we have been obliged to raise money by Mortgage. Well with God’s help that will be all right in time. But I have made a promise to erect one or more Statues. Certainly one of St. Joseph and I can get no help from the already burdened Treasury, so I concluded to ask the Sisters to aid me. Few of you who have not friends who will gladly give you a mite in honour of St. Joseph and thus entitle themselves to a daily remembrance in the prayers of the Community. It would be such a pleasure to me to be able to make an offering to our Glorious Protector, all the work of my devoted children.

Of course the Superior will in her wisdom advise each one as to the means to be adopted, to raise the little offering. The Mother House is your home dear Sisters and if I mistake not this little suggestion will give you pleasure.

Hoping you will all be as happy as good Religious can be on Easter Day.

I am Beloved Sisters, Most Devotedly Yours
Mother Mary Edward, Sup. Gen.
