Catherine McKinley / Mother Mary Edward

Catherine McKinley was born in Kingston, Ontario on August 14, 1837. Her father was John McKinley, a ship-owner, and her mother was Sarah McCaffrey. Catherine trained as a dressmaker prior to seeking admission to the newly founded religious congregation in Kingston.

Émilie Gamelin

The Blessed Mother Emilie Tavernier-Gamelin was the Canadian foundress of a Montreal religious order that in turn played a major role in establishing the Kingston-based Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.

Bishop Edward John Horan

Bishop Horan was the fourth Bishop of Kingston. He served as Ordinary of the Diocese from 1858 to 1874. During that time he helped found the Sisters of Providence in Kingston and supported the growth of the fledgling community.
